ABSTRACT: Laurie Farmen opened her automobile repair shop, Hoshi Motors in Boulder in 1984. In this interview, she talks about being a woman in the nontraditional field of auto mechanics; naming and running Hoshi Motors; her philosophy of business, which includes creating a sense of community and an emphasis on fairness, helping people, and giving back to the community; and discussion of the character of Boulder as a place to live.
