Bob Buxton has worked as the grounds supervisor for Boulder County Parks and Open Space for 28 years. He discusses the way the department has changed in that time (for example, growing from fewer than 30 employees to more than 130) as well as favorite, least favorite, and most challenging projects. He tells some dramatic anecdotes about his experiences, such as about the time he stumbled into confronting an accused murderer on one of the properties, just as the police closed in. His love of taking on a challenge and solving it through creative problem-solving, as well as his appreciation for working with the public, and his great respect for how much volunteers add to the department is apparent.
