In this interview Carla Selby recalls the beginnings of radio station KGNU, starting with a Boulder Free School class organized by Steve Elliot in 1973, through its actual inception as a station on the air five years later. Carla talks about her role in writing grants to get the station going and her time with the station as a classical music host and science editor. She also recalls some of the bumps in the road before KGNU became well established (ranging from flood water, to audio interference with the Channel 6 frequency, to questions of sexism and feminism during the 1970s) and speaks with pride about the station as it is now and the role she and others played in establishing KGNU as a Boulder community staple.
