Rattana Toi McDaniel, who moved from Thailand to Boulder with her American husband ten years ago, tells about her home country and her hometown of Chiang Mai. She relates how she came to meet her husband and tells the story about how she “trained” to live in Boulder—a place with a climate colder than she had ever experienced—by spending time in the walk-in freezer at the cooking school where she taught in Thailand! Although she misses easy access to Thai cooking ingredients, she talks about things she appreciates about Boulder, things she enjoys doing here, and the friendly nature of the people she has encountered.
